One can also visit the famed Ram temple, and Laxman temple in the vicinity. Both bridges have their own distinct features and views. Ram Jhula, the 750 foot long bridge connects Shivananda Nagar and Swargashram, above the sacred River Ganga. The bridge offers majestic views of the Himalayas and the mighty Ganges. On the other hand the Lakshman Jhula connects the villages of Tapovan in Tehri Garhwal with Jonk in Pauri Garhwal. The entire bridge is built of iron, is 450 feet long, and sits at a height of 70 feet over the river. The construction was completed in 1929 and it also said to connect the ancient route to the sacred shrines of Badrinath and Kedarnath further up north. As you cross the bridge you will also find many monkeys along the way, it is best to not tease them and be careful about belongings in your hands. Nearby you can also visit the 13-storey Trimbakeshwar temples and attend the evening. Some more temples and local shops in the neighbourhood are best explored on foot in this small town before you head back to the hotel for the night.
