Central India Region Religious Tour

Central India also known as the ‘heart of India’ is the most admired pilgrimage destination of India. The pious and religious sprit of this region can easily be traced from its ancient temples, shrines and pilgrimage places.

These pilgrimage sites visited by pilgrims throughout the year. They came here in serch of peace of mind and soul. These religious sites also represent the flavors and culture of ancient India. These sites are highly rich in their eye-catching architectural work, tremendous art and breathtaking designs, some of them declared as the world Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

The two most famous and religious destinations of Central India are Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. Different rulers have left the great influences on different regions of the state of Madhya Pradesh that can be seen in its temples. The Khajuraho temples (devoted to womanhood) never fail to amaze the visitors for its romantic carvings. The other religious states to visit in Madhya Pradesh are Sanchi, Bhopal and Gwalior etc. Chattisgarh is also famous for its ancient temples and sculpture.

The famous temples to visit at Central India are:-
Khajuraho Temples – These fascinating temples are situated at Madhya Pradesh and divided in two groups of Eastern temple group and Western temple group.

Khajuraho temples were constructed by Chandel Empire and consider as the peak point of Indian architectural genius having a theme of womanhood. Walls of these temples are full of sensual carvings. Some of the famous temples are Lakhmana, Kandariya Mahadeo, Parsvanath, Ghantai, Chattarbhuj or the Jatkari and Dulhadev.

Mahakaleshwar Temple – Mahakaleswar Temple is situated near the the Shipra River, Ujjain.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva this temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The most notable thing is the jyotirlinga of the temple is self exhibited linga.

Buddhist Monuments – Sanchi at Madhya Pradesh is an important Buddhist destination of India.

Sanchi is famous for monasteries, stupas, temples and pillars, which tells the episodes and miracles from Lord Buddha’s life and also consider as the World Heritage Sites.

It is the only place having notable specimen of Buddh architecture and art.

Maa Bamleshwari Devi Temple – This picturesque temple is nestled on a hilltop in Dongargarh, Chattisgarh.

The temple is also known as Badi Bamleshwari and the temple deity is Goddess Bamleshwari. There are some other temples situated at ground level about 1/2 km from the hilltop.

Omkareshwar Temple – Omkareshwar is the most pious temple of Central India situated at a distance of 77 km from Indore at the Sangam of the pious rivers Narmada and Kaveri.

This is an ‘OM’ (a pious Hindu symbol) shaped island. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva (one of the twelve jyotirlingas in India).

Bhojeshwar Temple – Bhojeshwar Temple is situated at Bhojpur, Madhya Pradesh.

This is an incomplete temple (was never completed) devoted to Lord Shiva. This temple is famous for having one of the largest lingam in the country if completed.
